Well my wishes came through

I am happy to say that I will be keeping my job. I'm sad to say that 4 of my coworkers have lost their jobs. One Paralegal's last day is January 15, the other is February 8th, and the two other secretaries last day is February 12.

Its sad but bittersweet to me in a way. I don’t want to be too happy because they are loosing their jobs and also their benefits. One Paral found a position already which is great. They gave a great severance package based on your tenure and me only being here 3 years I wouldn't have gotten a really big package. Plus my main concern was I just wanted to keep my job. My finances are on track, we are comfortably able to get things done at the house, we just bought a new TV and living room sofa, and in the beginning of the year plan on redoing our Kitchen and getting new windows. All on cash I might add. Yep, not going in the line of debt ever again. But anyways, back to the regulary scheduled program…(see how I get sidetracked). I mean my work load will complete change as I will now support 4 attorneys instead of 2, plus not to mention all the other joys and frustrations that come along with my position. All I kept saying to myself in silent little prayers, Please God, let me still have a job. It probably was redundant but oh well, I like to keep talking ya know. I mean if I didn't have to work, and had someone to support me that would be perfect, but Heather and My salary combined works good. She got a promotion last year and my bonus and raise comes in March not to mention income tax, etc. So yea, that’s about my life at work right now.

But I am very excited about Christmas coming up. I did my first attempt at bath salts for the girls at work, and they came out great, I loved the pastel food coloring that I purchased at Hobby Lobby, and you really didn't need a lot of it either. The glass jars look great, plus the cute little cloth christmas purses I got at the Christmas Tree Shop for .99 a piece. Wow is all I can say on that one. I'm still trying to figure out what else I can make for my parents for Christmas, since I always try to do something out of the ordinary…hmmm we'll see what my mind ponders today!

Some days

I know 2 blogs in one day, but can the girls in my office please shut up! ok, I let it out, I know, its not the most nicest thing one could say around the Holiday season, but sometimes I just gotta blurt things out and it so happens that today I blurted it out in print...whoo hoo, big task for me...ok back to the calm loving place!

Some days

11 Days till Christmas!!

11 days till Christmas…

Whew…is all I can say. This weekend was filled with so much busyness I didn't know what to do, but I loved every minute of it. Friday I came home from work and finished up the laundry detergent, so that should hold us till the end of January/beginning of February, so that task is completed. Saturday we woke up, had a nice breakfast then headed out to the Thrift Stores. What was funny was I donated 3 bags and I purchased 3 bags, (some how it always happens that way). But anyways, I was able to get some cute jars for my gifts that I am making this year for the girls at work. I also found a nice artificial tree, that we want to put up in the middle upstairs room (its kind of a sitting room) and for $5.00 I wasn't going to pass it up, plus it was all in the box etc. So that will be put up next year because I didn't want to get out all the christmas decorations again since that was all finished over Thanksgiving. So I got some tupperware containers for the cookies that I baked, for $.47 I wasn't going to pass that up. Then we went to the Goodwill and got some more decorative jars, DP was able to find some jeans that were barely worn, so that was a plus on that one too. Then I hit up Hobby Lobby to get glycerine, extra jars, food coloring and celaphane wrapping paper to wrap up the gifts. Went home, started 2 dozen Chocolate chip cookies, prepped the batter for peanut butter cookies, put that in the fridge to chill, then stared Pork & Saurkraut in the oven. While that was cooking I made Rice Krispie Treats and Monkey Munch which turned out delish. Then prepped mash potatoes, and finally sat down for dinner. After dinne, finished up dishes, put the peanut butter cookies in the oven and I finally finished around 10ish..after doing tons of dishes and well I was pooped!

Sunday started out with Made from scratch pancakes for breakfast, applewood bacon and cocoa/coffee, then I stared Sandtarts, and Snickerdoodles, and cheating for dinner by ordering out Pizza. But this weekend we had so much fun and quality time with the kids it could never be taken away. I just love weekends like that where everyone is laughing, dogs eating leftover cookies and well nice weekend fun. This coming weekend is christmas shopping so I'll be a busy person again.

Menu for this week is:

Monday - Hotdogs/ Fried Potatoes for Dinner
Tuesday - General Tso's Chicken and Rice
Wednesday - Shrimp Scampi
Thursday - Chicken Caesar salads
Friday - Grilled Cheese and leftover Mushroom Barley Soup

Thinking the Thursday menu might change because that is usually a grocery night, but we will see. Now I just have to get through this weekend and it should be good. Thanks goodness I will only work Monday then I'm off the rest of the week!!!

Oh what a Blustery Day!

Well here it goes, another blog, another day. I use to have a blogspot years and years ago, but after a while I stopped posting on it, and now I forgot the password, etc. so I'm starting from scratch.

The Christmas season is now fastly approaching and my mind is a flurry with all the fun things I want to accomplish and get done to in time for Christmas. This weekend I am heading to the thrift stores for some cute old mason jars with the wire clasp/lid to use for my homemade gifts for the girls at work. I am tackling this year making homemade bath salts. My daughter, Maddie is helping tomorrow, as we are making some for her Teacher's gift. I also will be starting my holiday baking. This year we are making Chocolate chip (which are a given), a new recipe for Peanut Butter Cookies, Rice Krispie Treats, Snickerdoodles, and this year I am making Monkey Munch which I saw on Jon and Kate plus 8. So wish me luck, plus it looks extra yummy, so I’m all excited about it.

Last night was so windy I found myself constantly picking up my old sled, lighted trees, and wreath garland that we had strung outside the laundry room. Thank goodness the house was nice and warm so I quickly kept running back in and thawing out. Well I'm gonna get back to work now, as my desk is overflowing with legal papers, and I think I'm gonna slowly slide under my desk, maybe they wont notice me.
